A Bri Too Much-The Naked Truth About Stuff

Taking Stock (a.k.a. The Bedroom Apocalypse)

Today’s brave mission: taking stock of my bedroom.

And let me tell you… there is stuff.
Stuff everywhere.
Boxes on the floor. Unfinished projects glaring at me from the corners. A floor that desperately needs a good scrub (bless it, it’s trying).

And here’s the kicker: I have new furniture coming.
Why? Because apparently I’ve decided I need a minimalist zen bedroom.

Yes, I hear the irony. No, I cannot explain why someone on a journey to have less thought the answer was… buying more. But welcome to my brain — where “declutter” sometimes translates to “spend money in the name of decluttering.” Hoarder logic at its finest.

The old me would have called this “retail therapy” or “making progress.” The new me (hi, I’m learning) sees it for what it is: a spending spree disguised in a robe and slippers, pretending to be spiritual.

The truth is, I’m still figuring this out. I’m still shopping when I shouldn’t, still finding excuses that sound really good at the time, still wrestling with the urge to fill spaces before I’ve even created them.

But here’s the difference: I see it now. I know this isn’t minimalism yet. I know buying my way into “zen” won’t work. And I’m promising myself — and you — to do better.

That said… once my new minimalist furniture arrives, I fully plan to sip tea in my “zen” room and enjoy it. Because hey — progress is progress, even if it arrives in a box with assembly instructions.

Stay tuned for the before-and-after (assuming I can find the floor under all these boxes).
